Audio Description - Mozarts Requiem

Audio Description is a live verbal commentary of the visual elements of a performance. This service can be beneficial for audiences who are blind or have a visual impairment.This audio description is done by Gunilla Kracht, a skilled interpreter with extensive experience in interpreting dance performances.

Tickets with audio description are booked by email to dialog@skanesdansteater.se or by phone 0703-44 58 11. Tickets with audio description cost SEK 100. Accompanying persons go for free, but also need a ticket.

About Audio Description

In an audio-visual performance, an interpreter tells you what is happening on stage. Visual interpretation can be an asset for both those with visual impairment and those who want support in taking in or interpreting the performance. The task of the visual interpreter is to place the blind person in the space and rhythm of the performance, describe the movements of the dance and put the unspoken into words.

This visual interpretation is done live on site. Before the performance you are greeted by the visual interpreter Gunilla, who gives an introduction to the performance specifically designed for people with visual impairment. The introduction explains the background to the performance and includes the opportunity to physically feel elements in the performance.

You take part in the audio description via a small technical device, a receiver unit and headphones, which you can borrow in the foyer at Malmö Opera before the performance. If you sign up for audio description, you are asked to pay for your ticket at Malmö Opera before the performance. The tickets with audio description are placed close to the stage so that those with certain vision can sit as close to the stage as possible.
